As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), I serve as an international arbitrator in complex construction, infrastructure, energy, and commercial disputes across Africa and beyond. I have extensive experience administering commercial arbitrations under institutional and ad hoc frameworks, including disputes governed by FIDIC-based contracts, PPP arrangements, and bespoke EPC structures. My expertise is instrumental in managing technically complex cases, extensive documentary records, and multi-party disputes while maintaining neutrality, independence, and procedural fairness.
I serve on Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards (DAABs), providing early, proactive dispute management for major construction and infrastructure projects. I am a member and practitioner of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) in Washington, DC. My role focuses on preventing escalation of claims into disputes by providing timely guidance, informal opinions, and binding decisions in accordance with FIDIC 2017 and other international standard forms. I engage closely with project participants, conduct regular site visits, and address issues while the project is live, when resolution is most effective. This approach preserves cash flow, protects project relationships, and significantly reduces the risks associated with arbitration or litigation at later stages.
As a FIDIC Certified Trainer, I deliver high-impact training on the practical application of FIDIC standard forms, tailored to employers, contractors, engineers, consultants, and financiers. My training goes beyond theory, focusing on real-world contract administration, claims management, risk allocation, dispute avoidance, and the effective use of FIDIC mechanisms in live projects.
